The month of May rhymes with springtime sweetness… but it’s also the perfect time to be aware of our sugar consumption! Have you heard of the MAYbe Less Sugar campaign? This national initiative invites everyone to take stock of the added sugars in their diet and find out how to reduce them on a daily basis.

What is MAYbe Less Sugar?
MAYbe Less Sugar is a health promotion campaign that takes place every year in Switzerland throughout the month of May. Its aim is to raise public awareness of the consumption of added sugars and offer practical advice on how to limit them easily.
Why is this important? Because added sugars are hidden everywhere in our diet: sweet drinks, biscuits, sauces, breakfast cereals… and excessive consumption can contribute to the development of health problems such as obesity, type 2 diabetes and tooth decay.
How does it work?
It’s very simple and accessible to everyone:
👉 Register online at maybeless-sugar.ch
👉 Find out how many added sugars you consume on average each day using the online calculator
👉 Receive tips and practical advice on how to reduce your consumption
👉 Take part in events and challenges throughout May
No need to be a nutrition expert: this action is designed to be fun, caring and guilt-free.
And after May?
The good news is that even after the campaign is over, the site will remain active.
You can use the online calculator at any time and consult the resources provided to continue your action at your own pace.
Why am I telling you about it?
As a nutritionist, I often find that sugar remains a discreet but omnipresent ingredient in our diet. Simple actions can already make a big difference:
- Replace soft drinks with homemade flavoured water
- Gradually reduce the amount of sugar in coffee or desserts
- Read labels to spot hidden sugars
The MAYbe Less Sugar campaign is an excellent opportunity to get involved together, in a positive and motivating spirit.
